Theology 101

A sign in from of a Methodist Church in Hilliard Ohio reads "God loves you no matter what."

Watching religious television broadcasts it seems that many assume that the god they believe in, Jehovah, loves them despite what they call their sins. They believe that God is interested in them, is watching over them and is protecting them. They enjoy believing this. They want to believe it. But just in case Jehovah has been looking away or has forgotten them, they will send Him a special request in the form of a prayer.

Some of them may be dubious about the "no matter what" part. They may believe that they have to earn God's love. But those who believe in the "no matter what" may also believe that God sends those not devoted enough to Him to to eternal torments.
